OH MY GOD!! John Cena has done the unthinkable ladies and gentlemen. Last night at
Elimination Chamber, John Cena and 5 others competed for a chance to punch their ticket to
the “Grandest stage of them all” Wrestlemania in a brutal match. The stakes were super high for
John to win, he’s chasing that sole #17 to surpass Ric Flair for the most World Championships
ever.
In the previous event “Royal Rumble” John fell short as he got too excited and it cost him the
match, Jey Uso would go on to win the rumble. After the event in a press conference with Cena,
he specifically states “ What’s best for business is that a main event is Wrestlemania” in the
most confident and determined way possible. Fast forward 6 weeks later and yesterday
happened. John Cena made his claim turn into a reality as he defeated CM Punk, Seth Rollins,
Drew Mcintyre, Damien Priest, and the internet sensation Logan Paul. Now to give context, as
we turn back the clock to October at Bad Blood, The Final Boss made an awaited return and left
nothing but clues and questions that needed answers. Putting 3 fingers up and sorta slices his
neck figuratively with 2 fingers. After this he wouldn’t show up and left that segment as sort of a
useless return to fans. In a promo on Smackdown about a week ago, The Rock issues a chilling
and confusing statement , signifying he wants Cody Rhodes’ soul, who by the way is the current
WWE champion.
Fast forward to last night’s event, there was so much curiosity of whether or not Cody will sell
his soul to The Rock or will he stay true to the fans as well as himself. The answer everyone
wanted to know was…. we will get to that after I present how the ending of the match took
place. Sorry, I know I just left a cliffhanger to the Cody and Rock segment but stay with me. As
the final 2 competitors Punk and Cena were remaining, there was a spot where Punk was
leaning on the ropes, his arch nemesis Seth Rollins took matters into his own hands and
stomped Punk onto the Chamber floor… ouch I know he still had a little bit of metal for breakfast
today. Due to Rollins’ anger and hatred towards Punk, he would cost Punk the match. But how
the match would end kinda gave a hint as to what went down later on. Usually Cena as a
babyface, wouldn’t take advantage of others weaknesses and would try to play it by the rules.
As Punk got stomped on, a desperate Cena took advantage and put him in his submission hold
the “STF” and would yell “sorry” to make it seem like he felt bad. That’s where he gets you.
There was no remorse for the finish and Cena needed to win by any means necessary.
Once the match ended and Cena finally got his Wrestlemania opportunity, The Rock and Cody
Rhodes would come out and discuss what needed to be discussed. The Rock tells Cody “Look
me in the eyes, if your answer is no then tonight the dream dies, AGAIN”! Cody eventually
responds with “My soul no longer belongs to me, because I gave my soul to this ring and these
people”. Follows it ups with a BOLD statement “Hey Rock go F**K YOURSELF”. Surely as Cena
looks on and starts cheering about this segment every second he gets, you would think oh ok
this will just be a babyface vs babyface main event. Surely Cena and Rhodes will just battle it
out clean with no animosity right? RIGHT???? I’m getting goosebumps just rewatching this
segment right now people. Cody would shake Cena’s hand… then there came a look. A look
that changed the company completely, in one of the most shocking turns ever. This has been 20
years in the making. Cena glances at The Rock with the most serious face ever after hugging

Cody. The Rock would then PUT THE 2 FINGERS UP AS I MENTIONED BEFORE, slices the
neck of course, and that’s all she wrote. John freaking Cena hits Cody with a low blow and
SHOCKS everyone in the arena. The pop went insane and with good reason because for so
long we have waited for this day. A day where a national hero in the business, an icon, literally
the franchise of WWE, turned his back and sold his soul….
Cena and Rock joining forces 14 years in the making, they main evented manias twice together,
had so much history with each other, that to see them be together as heels was the biggest
shock ever. But guess what, I’M HERE FOR IT! After the event there was a press conference.
Cena said no words, leaving so many questions as to why, why would he ever do this. Well for
now we all are left with curiosity, but for Cena, it’s always about redemption. Welcome to the
Cena and Rock era ladies and gentlemen….
